Gaza Boxing Day Celebration raided…

December 29th, 2010 | By

As Sting blazed on into the wee hours of the morning, the Gaza Boxing Day Celebration was cut short at the Building in New Kingston.  Cops raided the party held by di Techa himself but found nothing incriminating.  This will be the second time within just a couple of days that the cops “run-in pon di” Building.  Despite the Sting operation upwards of 5,o00 fans waited patiently for someone to exit.  Capacity at the Building is 1500.

Bounty no show for Sting…

December 28th, 2010 | By

THE Warlord Bounty Killer was a no show to for the collaboration that was set for him and Beenie at Sting 2010.

Did he get caught up at the Gullyside show Mavado was throwin or was it sum money thing?

Word is by and large the performances were a bit disappointing with the exception of Sizzla and I OCTANE who got the strongest forward from the portmore crowd.

Sizzla stepped on stage at approximatley 6:15 am and brought the crowd to life….Beenie, Agent Sasco and Kippah made brief cameos….the bad gyal segment seems to have fizzled as well…..

Was Kartel right  was it actually “the floppiest Sting” thus far?

Tell us what you  think….

Lady Saw for Sting 2010 after 7 years…

December 25th, 2010 | By

The Acclaimed Muma of Dancehall, Lady Saw will be one of the two females in the ” 13 Warriors” segment” at Jamworld on Boxing Day.   It has been 7 years since Saw has touched the Sting stage at JamWorld and is taking her return very seriously.  But this year she is excited and looking forward to a triumphant return.  The certified Diva of Dancehall just her first eighth studio album entitled My Way which was also named on the ITUNES Best of Reggae 2010, earlier this year and says her return to the Sting stage will be nothing short of spectacular.

“We know that Mr. Laing says there will be no war at Sting, but who really believe him? This is Sting and tings haffi gwaan. As far as I can see, there will be a lot of issues to be settled with some artistes,” Lady Saw expressed.

And, while Lady Saw has no intention of getting into any kind of “kas kas” with any artiste at Sting, she is busy sharpening her pencils, as she knows that Sting is not for the faint of heart.

“I’m here studying for Sting,” she said in a telephone interview from her St Mary home. “Yeah man. This is Sting and as an artiste you have to be prepared. You can’t go with any and any ting. I’ve written some songs especially for the Sting crowd, so I’m here at home going through them, getting the delivery and those things right,” Saw explained.

She notes that she has already rehearsed with Ruff Kut and “things are shaping up good. I’m pretty excited about this upcoming Sting performance,” she said.

She has mastered the art of delivery often with raw and edgy lyrics combined with sultry stage performances.  But within her lies also Marion Hall, the singer who can thrill crowds in Jamaica and abroad and can be heard and felt in her soon to be released album “A Marion Order the Alter Ego”.    The Queen also just finished working on the official LADY SAW APP which fans are being urged to download and get connected to all the latest Lady Saw music videos, pictures, show info and more.  “The app is very cool and takes Lady Saw right up there with cutting edge technology,” she sated.  She also has several new ringtones availabe including her newest single off of the “My Way” album featuring Eve, “He’s At My House”album.

As for Sting, she says, “A we seh Party Till December … so we are gonna make this December show a party to remember.”

Heineken River Sundays returns to St. Elizabeth

December 23rd, 2010 | By

This month will see Coppershot, Danger Zone, Mega Watt and Black Love providing the entertainment.

Kingston Jamaica:-Heineken River Sundays, St Elizabeth’s number one monthly party has decided to take patrons back to school this month. The event which is held at Grossman River in Braes River every first Sunday has prided itself over the last six months on bringing positive entertainment to the masses and the promoters plan to make this Sunday’s instalment bigger and better. Every month is a new theme and every month there is added niceness for the patrons who travel from as far as St James and Kingston to enjoy music by the riverside.

As was promised part proceeds from Heineken River Sundays will go towards community development and the promoters have decided to use some proceeds from past events to purchase schools supplies for needy students from the community. Danger Zone Music Group, Frassman Entertainment and Nuwave Entertainment will also make a significant cash donation to one of the schools in the area which is in need.

Ronny ‘Frassman’ White of Frassman Promotions explains the logic behind this decision: “The community has helped to make Heineken River Sundays the number one event in St Elizabeth every month. When we started the event we did it with the aim of helping to rebuild the economy of Braes River and surrounding areas and this donation is apart of that commitment”.

CEO of Danger Zone Music Group Delmar ‘Della Danger’ Drummond says the event will continue to aid in the development of the community: “Everybody is talking about Heineken River Sundays. Every month this area is covered with patrons and vendors. There are many people who make a living from this event alone and we want to continue to expand the event so next year we can make bigger donations to schools in the area and buy more books and other stationary for the needy children going back to school.

This Sunday’s Heineken River Sundays is dubbed the ‘Back to School Edition’ and will see a party for adults beginning at 7pm. This month will see Coppershot, Danger Zone, Mega Watt and Black Love providing the entertainment. Drummond’s Catering will be cooking up some of St Elizabeth’s and Jamaica’s finest dishes such as pork, chicken, fish and various vegetarian specials.

This staging of Heineken River Sundays is destined to be another success. The admission is free, it’s a Heineken event so you should be 18 and older to drink, drink responsibly. Sunday September 5 is a date not to be missed when once again St Elizabeth will come alive.

Portmore’s Blaze Night Club hosts Sting Poster Launch

December 23rd, 2010 | By

The Blaze Night Club in Portmore, St. Catherine, will host Sting’s exciting Poster Launch this Friday. The launch will showcase some of the acts live on stage as they give a tantalizing taste of what will unfold on December 26, right in the heart of Portmore.

The Sting poster is regarded as a keepsake item, is as much in demand as the show itself. Recognizing this, Supreme Promotions, the organizers of Sting, decided a few years ago to give the Sting poster the respect it deserves by having a separate Poster Launch the week after the official event launch.

“The Sting Poster is like no other,” Isaiah Laing, CEO of Supreme Promotions stated confidently. “Over the years, through the efforts of designer DiMario McDowell, it has raised the bar in terms of poster design. It also sets the overall tone for Sting,” Laing added.

In fact, the Sting poster does tell a tale and is highly anticipated by various groups for different reasons – it can cause pleasure or pain. For Sting patrons, the poster provides the most accurate information on the line-up of acts on the hugely popular Boxing Day event at Jamworld in Portmore.

And for the artistes, their face on the poster is the most reassuring confirmation that their slot has been reserved on this stellar dancehall event. Artistes have been known to cry in disbelief when they cannot find their own faces on the Sting Poster.

Ever since the usual well-attended Sting launch at the Pegasus Hotel in Kingston recently, and the release of some of the names on the line-up, the momentum has steadily been building among the artistes, fans and the public in general. Everyone is excited to know who else will grace the Sting stage this year.

The year’s Sting, which has telecoms giant LIME as its major sponsor, is dubbed “The Collaboration”. It consists of several dynamic segments including the 13 Warriors, Spotlight, the 13 Bad Girls of Sting, Sting Disc Jocks, Sting Commentary and Starlights.

The Poster Launch which is to be held on Friday December 3, 2010 at Blaze night club in Portmore, will reveal the full lineup for the event. Of course, one of the main attractions will be the poster giveaways which will take place after the official unveiling of the Sting 27 poster for 2010.

Sting 2010 is sponsored by LIME, the official telecommunications partner, Wata, the official water of Sting, Hitz 92FM, Sting’s official radio station, , TVJ, Fame 95FM, RJR 94FM, Mac D’s Records, Trensetta Productions, Down Sound Records, Island Car Rentals, Zoukie Trucking, Hype TV, Jolly’s His ‘N’ Hers, Romeich Wear and Kariblink Digital.
