According to VI Daily around 6:30 pm Friday night gunfire erupted between Buildings 11 and 12 of Paul M. Pearson Gardens housing community in St. Thomas.
A 24 year old promoter by the name of Shamal Smith was left dead while reggae artist Delyno “Pressure Buss Pipe” Brown and a 33-year-old acquaintance were shot and wounded.
Pressure was shot in the hip and the bullet is said to have went straight through.
The second surviving victim, who is Pressure’s friend and a fellow musician, suffered gunshot wounds to the chest.
Pressure was set to perform at a show scheduled for 10 p.m. alongside headliner Lady Saw.
The cause of the shooting is still unclear.
Lady Saw who was on the island preparing for the show later that evening spoke to media today about the incident.

“The same guy that got killed. He picked me up and took me to two radio stations. I did all my interviews and went to my hotel. I was shocked when a lady by the hotel told us that they just killed the promoter.
So I called my management team and told them ‘get me out of here!’ Then they told me that man is not the right promoter he is associated with them and he is the ‘ground man’ and the real promoter is on his way from America. Sadly though Pressure got shot.
I saw him at the radio station the next day…he was fine enough he was walking, but with a limp and he was saying it was a flesh wound and he also came to the show and perform. Alot of people didn’t come out because of what happened.
But it was a great show, I thank God Pressure is alright and he was on the radio telling people to ‘stop the violence.’ While he was on stage he was falling down a few times though, but you have to give him props fi come up”
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging any witnesses to contact them if they have any information about the incident.
Meanwhile Pressure is recuperating from his injuries.
