Federal prosecutors are hoping that Judge Patterson will impose Christopher “Dudus” Coke with a 23-year prison sentence this Tuesday February 28th in the Federal District Court in Manhattan.
The request for a maximum sentence states that the federal advisory sentencing guidelines calls for a sentence between slightly less than 22 years to 23 years in prison.
The US attorney’s office insist that Coke led a drug trafficking ring from an armed stronghold in Tivoli Gardens, moving guns and drugs between Jamaica and the US, ordering murders, shootings and beatings while enjoying virtual immunity from Jamaican law enforcement.
In September of last year Coke submitted a 7-page handwritten letter to Judge Patterson stating his own sentencing requests and accepting responsibility for his actions.
Coke also asked the Judge to use his discretion to sentence him below the guideline range.
Although Coke was scheduled to be sentenced last month his attorney Stephen Rosen requested a postponement.
This was the 2nd time sentencing was postponed as Coke was initially set for sentencing on December 8th of 2011.
Coke has been in US custody since June 2010, after he waived his rights to an extradition hearing.
